Sochi, RUSSIA, 2009 – Mikhail Pavelivich Karabelnikov (77) from Novokuznetsk is enjoying his holiday on the private beach of sanatorium Metallurg. Sanatorium Metallurg is about 15 minutes of driving from the city centre of Sochi on the way to Adler. It is specialized in diseases of osseous-muscular, cardiovascular and nervous system.
Sochi was established as a fashionable resort area under Joseph Stalin, who had his favourite dacha built in the city. During Stalin’s regime the coast became dotted with imposing Neoclassical buildings. The area was continuosly developed until the demise of the Soviet Union.
